Stockbrige & Dean Village

Welcome back to my blog! Today I’m going to write about one of the most charming neighborhoods in Edinburgh: Stockbridge and Dean Village. Many people think it’s a small village inside the big city, but in fact it is just another area, although really worth visiting.

What I did yesterday was to wait for the sun to come up, and I went to the Stockbridge area, one of the most expensive neighborhoods in Edinburgh. It lays next to the River Dean and what I like most about it it’s not only its Sunday Market, as I wrote in my post about Leith Market, but also because of the huge amount of charities we can find in there. I was particularly looking for books, since I want to build a small library at home, but if you’re into fashion there are plenty of clothes and accessories from well-known brands, as they are mainly donations from the people who live there. I was very lucky and found 5 books for less than 10 pounds, so I’m really happy!

From there I decided to end my “tour” by going to Dean Village, one of my favorite spots. It is a small neighborhood where you can see plenty of adorable little houses that might as well have been taken out of a fairy tale, at it also lays next to the River Dean. I could have spent hours over there, but sadly I had to go back home, so I left and enjoyed my well-deserved rest 🙂

Hoy os voy a hablar de uno de los rinconcitos más bonitos de Edimburgo: Stockbridge y Dean Village. Mucha gente considera que es un pueblecito dentro de la propia ciudad. Lo cierto es que es una zona más, pero que bien vale la pena visitar.

Lo que hice ayer fue esperar a que saliese el sol (¡milagro!) y fui a la zona de Stockbridge, uno de los barrios de mayor nivel adquisitivo de la ciudad. Se encuentra a orillas del río Dean y lo que más me gusta de él es no sólo el mercado de los sábados, como os comentaba en el post sobre el mercado de Leith, sino por la gran cantidad de charities, o tiendas de segunda mano, que podemos encontrar. Personalmente, yo iba buscando libros, ya que quiero crear una pequeña biblioteca en casa, pero aquí podemos encontrar muchos productos de ropa, complementos, etc. de marca, ya que suelen ser donaciones de la gente local. Tuve mucha suerte y conseguí unos 5 libros por menos de 10 libras en total, así que estoy contentísima.

De allí, aprovechando el buen tiempo decidí ir a Dean Village, un lugar que me encanta. Se trata de un pequeño barrio formado por casitas que parece que han salido de un cuento de hadas, también a orillas del río Dean. Podría haberme pasado allí horas, pero al final no me quedó más remedio que volver a casa y disfrutar de mi merecido descanso.
