Morangie House Hotel – Tain

¡Buenos días a todos! Espero que hayáis tenido una estupenda semana. Hoy os traigo otro review, esta vez de un hotel que se encuentra en la pequeña población de Tain, que se encuentra a más o menos una hora de Inverness.

La razón por la que estuve en Tain fue por motivos de trabajo, como no podía ser de otra manera y allí pasé una noche. Esta población es considerada el burgo más antiguo de Escocia y como atracciones locales podemos encontrar uno de los campos de golf más antiguos y más al norte de Escocia y también la destilería del famoso whisky Glenmorangie, otro de los whiskys que recomiendo probar.

Al encontrarse cerca de los fiordos de Dornoch y de Cromarty, la biodiversidad es muy variada y no sería raro encontrarse focas o delfines por la zona.

El hotel en el que me alojé es el Morangie House Hotel y la verdad es que, a pesar de que se encuentra ligeramente apartado del centro del pueblo, vale mucho la pena. Cuenta con bastantes habitaciones y todas se encuentran en muy buen estado. Como en todos los hoteles y bed and breakfasts de Escocia, encontraremos en la habitación una jarra eléctrica (el famoso kettle británico), té, café, chocolate y una pequeña selección de galletas para acompañar, por lo que si no tenéis desayuno incluido, o no tenéis tiempo porque tenéis que salir muy temprano (mi caso), es algo muy práctico.

En cuanto al personal del hotel, fueron agradables, si bien es cierto que hasta que no te diriges a ellos no hacen mucha intención de atenderte, pero una vez que lo hacen, todo va bastante bien.

Aquí os dejo unas fotos del hotel, las habitaciones y el pequeño jardín secreto que se encuentra justo al lado para que podáis opinar por vosotros mismos.

De modo que si tenéis que viajar al norte de Escocia y no sabéis dónde alojaros, Tain es muy buena opción porque debido a su localización nos aporta un ambiente muy tranquilo y relajado y los precios de alojamiento y restaurantes son bastante más bajos en las ciudades algo más populares. Nosotros cenamos en el Royal Hotel, en el que tienen platos especiales del día y tanto el restaurante como la comida estuvieron muy bien (eso sí, el servicio es bastante lento, por lo que si vamos con prisa, tal vez no sea la mejor opción, pero para cenar tranquilamente no está nada mal).

Good morning everyone! I hope your week has been great. In today’s post I’m going to make another review, this time of a hotel in the little village of Tain, not far from Inverness (just an hour ride).

The reason why I went to Tain was business, as usual, and I spent a night there. This villages is considered to be the oldest burgh in Scotland and as local attractions it has one of the oldest and furthest North in Scotland and also the Glenmorangie Distillery, one of the most famous whiskys from this region.

Since Tain is not far from the Firths of Dornoch and of Cromarty, the biodiversity is spectacular, so don’t be surprised if you spot seals or dolphins in the area.

The hotel I stayed at is the Morangie House Hotel and the truth is that despite being slightly far from the center, it’s a very nice hotel. It has many rooms in very good condition. As in every hotel and bed and breakfast in Scotland, we’ll find a kettle, tea, coffee, chocolate and a small selection of biscuits,  so if you don’t have breakfast included or you need to leave the hotel very early in the morning (my case), this is a good breakfast substitute.

As for the hotel staff they were nice, however not too eager to assist you, but when they do they are helpful and friendly.

I’ll upload some pictures of the hotel, its rooms and the small little garden and also of the village, so you can have an idea of what it looks like.

So if you want to travel to the north of Scotland and you don’t know where to stay, Tain is very good option because due to its location the atmosphere is very quiet and peaceful, and the prices are not as high as in more popular villages. We had our dinner at the Royal Hotel, where you’ll have the day’s specials and a wide choice of different courses. The only this is that the service is kind of slow, so if you’re in a hurry that might not be the best option, but if you’re having dinner and have time, I would highly recommend it.
