Scottish Highlands

Hello everyone!

Today I’m going to write about a quick trip I did to Inverness (job related) a couple of days ago. We left Edinburgh at around 8.30 am (a little bit late, I know) and we traveled North of Scotland. We drove past Stirling Castle and we took our first break in Kilmahog, where all drivers and tour guides meet, and where our customers have the chance to meet the famous Hairy Coos.

After a quick break, we stopped at Loch Lubnaig and at Luch Tulla to take some pictures. We drove across Rannoch Moor and the heart of the Highlands until we got to Glencoe, one of the most popular and haunted places in Scotland. From there we drove to Fort William, where we took another break to rest before we hit the road towards Fort Augustus, just next to the world famous Loch Ness.

After a walk around the village, an excellent meal and an interesting cruise, we left for Inverness. I said goodbye to my customers and started my journey home. To be honest, that was the first time I traveled from Inverness to Edinburgh by train, but I was really surprised by the great service. The journey lasts only 3 hours and a half and it stops at really beautiful places such as Dalwhinnie, Pitlochry, Dunkeld, Perth… Plus, it takes the Fife coastal trail, from where the firth can be seen and as a bonus, we had the chance to see a massive full moon.

I was very happy at the end of the day and I am really looking forward to going back up there soon. For the moment, I am staying in Edinburgh, so I will tell you all about it. See you soon!

Hoy os voy a hablar de mi pequeña escapada (por trabajo) hacia Inverness. Salimos de Edimburgo a las 8.30 de la mañana (un poco tarde, lo sé) y nos dirigimos al norte de Escocia. Dejamos de lado el castillo de Stirling e hicimos nuestra primera parada en Kilmahog, el punto de encuentro de todos los guías y conductores y donde nuestros clientes pueden aprovechar para ver las famosas vacas peludas escocesas.

Tras un breve descanso, hicimos una pequeña parada para fotos en el Loch Lubnaig y otra en el Loch Tulla. De ahí pasamos por Rannoch Moor y el corazón de las Highlands hasta llegar a Glencoe, uno de los lugares más populares y místicos de Escocia. Desde allí partimos a Fort William, donde hicimos una pequeña parada para descansar antes de partir a Fort Augustus, a orillas del famoso Lago Ness.

Tras un paseo por el pueblo, una excelente comida y un interesante paseo en barco, nos fuimos a nuestro último punto del programa: Inverness. Allí me despedí de mis clientes y emprendí mi viaje de regreso a casa. La verdad es que era la primera vez que utilizaba el tren para ir de Inverness a Edimburgo y quedé gratamente sorprendida por lo bueno que es el servicio: solo tarda 3 horas y media en llegar y va pasando por zonas preciosas de Escocia:Dalwhinnie, Pithclochry, Dunkeld, Perth… una maravilla. Además, atraviesa los pueblos de Fife, desde donde se puede ver el fiordo y el mar y tuvimos la ocasión de poder contemplar una luna llena enorme.

La verdad es que quedé muy contenta con todo el día en general y a ver cuándo vuelvo por allí 🙂 De momento me quedo en Edimburgo una temporadita, así que ya os iré contando. ¡Hasta pronto!
